Hong Kong, September 2026

Peter Nobel, Chairman of the Nobel Sustainability Trust (NST), participated in BIOHK 2026 the Hong Kong International Biotechnology Conference & Exhibition :bringing a sustainability perspective to the global conversation on biotechnology, life sciences and human longevity.

In his keynote address, Nobel introduced the concept of “Sustainable Longevity,” highlighting that advances in biotechnology, bioscience and artificial intelligence are creating remarkable new possibilities to improve health and extend human life. At the same time, he stressed that human well-being remains fundamentally dependent on the long-term stability of the natural systems that sustain life.

He presented three interconnected dimensions of longevity: human longevity, societal longevity and planetary longevity, encouraging a broader discussion about how scientific progress can improve and extend life while strengthening the environmental and societal systems upon which future generations depend.

Peter Nobel’s participation at BIOHK reflects NST’s commitment to connecting science, innovation and sustainability, and to encouraging dialogue across disciplines on solutions that can contribute to both human prosperity and planetary resilience.

As Peter Nobel expressed during his participation in Hong Kong:

“Longer lives require a planet capable of sustaining them.” This perspective also reflects the wider ambition of the Nobel Sustainability Trust: A World in Balance.
